The sunshine pigs from Ellingbø Gard are grazed from June to September on our lush pasture at 900 m above sea level. The pasture has been used for dairy cows for several generations, and is very rich in herbs and nutrients. Here there is lush grass, roots, mushrooms, heather and willows, which are goodies for the pigs to eat. There is bog and mud to roll in, a gaping hole to sleep in and a warm birch forest to snuggle in. The pigs can run around and root in the soil, something the pigs need to be happy.

The pigs roam freely in a large area, so they have plenty of room to run around. During the summer, they spend a period with ten to twelve dairy cows and then around twenty heifers. The pigs really appreciate this, as they are social animals.

We live on the farm ourselves throughout the summer with dairy cows, and then have a lot of supervision and contact with the pigs. If we call them, they come running, excited to see if there is something to eat. That is why our pigs are social, healthy and very happy pigs, with curls on their tails, which is a sign that they are doing well. This makes good meat!

Our focus is good animal welfare and a good pig life. This gives very good quality to the meat we deliver. We have a number of pigs that means we have full control and good contact with the animals at all times. We are proud of the work we put into the farm and the animals, and the quality product we deliver.

We deliver Solskinnsgris to private customers, DNT Fondsbu at Eidsbugarden, Sommerhotellet in Vang, Nythun in Nord-Aurdal, and are impressed by local businesses' commitment to local food and very grateful to all private customers who buy local food! The pigs are slaughtered via Nortura, and skinned and packed by the local company Per Reboli AS in Leira, a company with great expertise in meat processing.

These are our packages of cut parts, vacuum packed:

• 9 kg: ribs, chops, fillet and other good things! NOK 250/kg

• 16 kg (incl. 4 kg of minced meat): ribs, chops, fillet, minced meat, ready-to-fry minced meat and other goodies! Kr 240,-/kg, minced meat Kr 150,-/kg

• 50 kg/half pig (incl. 8 kg minced meat): all the goodness from half a pig! NOK 215,-/kg, minced meat NOK 150,-/kg

We deliver by appointment in Valdres, Sogndal and Oslo. For delivery in Oslo and Sogndal we charge a small shipping surcharge of NOK 100.

We are accepting pre-orders until April 1st for delivery in the fall of 2026. To ensure good animal welfare and good contact with and overview of our animals, we will have about 60 pigs. We will close orders when we reach that number.
